Olympic champion Marco Odermatt of Switzerland made a statement of intent when he started his quest for back-to-back alpine skiing World Cup titles with victory at the season-opening giant slalom in Austria on Sunday. First-run leader Odermatt, 25, had a small mistake in the upper part of the second run but clocked a winning 2 minutes 4.72 seconds in Sölden for his 12th career success.
