A meeting between German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and French President Emmanuel Macron to resolve differences over European energy and defence policies was “very cooperative,” the German delegation told dpa. “It was a very intensive meeting, a very cooperative meeting,” the delegation said, adding that it had laid the groundwork for renewed vigour in the countries’ bilateral relationship. Aside from energy and defence policies against the backdrop of the Ukraine war, the leaders also discussed trade, upcoming trips to the United States and China and joint space projects.
