Less than a year after Gov. Phil Murphy signed a law requiring Rutgers University to create a database tracking the race and gender of state appointees and elected officials, the money is close to running out and the work is far from complete. Nothing was earmarked in the current fiscal year that began in July, although the budget for the last fiscal year ending in June contained a $350,000 line-item for the university’s Center for American Women and Politics’ work on the database.
