Slovakia’s finance minister and deputy premier, Igor Matovic, narrowly survived a vote of no confidence in parliament on Tuesday. Matovic is founder and leader of the largest governing party, Ordinary People and Independent Personalities (OLaNO). Had he not survived, it would have plunged the governing coalition in Bratislava – which is now only a minority government – into a further crisis.
