By Mila M. Jasey and Julie Borst Since the mid-1980′s, School-Based Youth Services Programs (SBYSP) have served some of New Jersey’s most vulnerable students. The Department of Children and Families (DCF) currently funds programs in 86 schools. The programs include, but are not limited to, mental health services, counseling, afterschool programming, job placement, and drop-in centers where students can find a quiet place to gather themselves in the middle of the day.
