Peter Feldmann, the controversial lord mayor of German financial hub Frankfurt, has been voted out of office in a citizens’ referendum, according to the preliminary interim results on Sunday. After counting almost all voting districts, more than 95% voted to remove Feldmann of the centre-left Social Democratic Party (SPD) from office, according to the interim results which the city published online.
