NEW YORK — Rookie cops scheduled to hit the streets later this month will jump right in to the fight against theft, robbery and violence that has plagued much of the city, NYPD brass said Friday. Newly-minted cops from a class of 700 scheduled to graduate from the police academy Oct. 17 will be sent to commercial strips plagued by larceny — such as Fordham Road in the Bronx, Jamaica Ave. in Queens, and 86th St. in Brooklyn.
