German Chancellor Olaf Scholz visits the north-western state of Lower Saxony on Saturday one day ahead of regional elections in which his Social Democrats (SPD) are expecting to edge out their conservative rivals. Scholz is set to address a rally with current state premier and fellow Social Democrat Stephan Weil. The polls indicate Weil has a lead of several percentage points ahead of his Christian Democrat (CDU) rival, Bernd Althusmann.
