Gov.Phil Murphy conditionally vetoed a bill proponents say would help keep families in their homes when faced with foreclosure, sending it back to the legislature for revisions. The measure would give homeowners of foreclosed homes or their next of kin the chance to put 3.5% cash down — opposed to the 20% needed at a sheriff’s sale — as long as they agree to live in the home for seven years.
