Hosts Germany beat Australia 2-1 on Sunday to reach the Davis Cup quarter-finals as group winners. Kevin Krawietz nd Tim Pütz clinched victory for the Germans 6-4, 6-4 against Wimbledon champions Matthew Ebden and Max Purcell, stretching their unbeaten run to 8-0 in the competition. Jan-Lennard Struff had put Germany ahead 6-1, 7-5 against Purcell before Australia levelled from Thanasi Kokkinakis 7-6 (8-6), 6-1, against Oscar Otte to make the doubles rubber decide.
