The former head of the German Bundesbank, Jens Weidmann, is to be elected to the supervisory board of Commerzbank and then also take over the leadership of the board, the commercial bank confirmed on Saturday. The current chairperson of Commerzbank’s supervisory board, Helmut Gottschalk, had informed shareholder representatives that he would no longer stand for election at the next annual general meeting, on May 31.
