Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev looked set to tighten his grip on power after exit polls put him in the lead in Sunday’s presidential election. An exit poll by the Open Society institute gave Tokayev an 82.4% share of the vote, Kazakh media reported on Sunday evening after the polls had closed.
