A new museum dedicated to art created during the former German Democratic Republic (GDR) has opened its doors to visitors in Potsdam, just outside Berlin. Housed in a former terrace restaurant building that was remodelled over two years, the new ‘Minsk’ art museum by cultural patron Hasso Plattner exhibits GDR artwork from his personal collection as well as contemporary art. The 3,200 tickets for the opening weekend quickly sold out.
