The euro fell to its lowest level against the dollar in 20 years following the release of weak economic data. On Friday afternoon, €1 was worth just $0.9707, the lowest level since late 2002. In morning trading, the euro had still been well above $0.98. The European Central Bank set the exchange rate at $0.9754 on Friday, compared to $0.9884 on Thursday.
