Werder Bremen aim to have a planned two-game ban for their captain Marco Friedl for a red-card offence in last weekend’s Bundesliga game at Freiburg reduced. Bremen first-team chief Clemens Fritz told reporters on Tuesday that the ruling body DFB wants Friedl banned for two games for a last-man foul against Michael Gregoritsch in the 14th minute of the game Freiburg went on to win 2-0. “We can comment on that. And we are hoping that we can reduce it to one game,” Fritz said, naming the offence not a very grave one.
