The new Italian government under far-right leader Giorgia Meloni received its second and final vote of confidence on Wednesday. In the vote in the Senate, the prime minister and her Cabinet received the necessary absolute majority. The Chamber of Deputies had voted in favour of her new right-wing alliance the day before. In the smaller Senate, 115 of the 200 parliamentarians present voted for Meloni, who took office as Italy’s first female prime minister over the weekend.
